Auctions Wrap – 27th June 2015
“A strong finish to the financial year”
Weekly Overview
The 2015 financial year finished on a high, with 1,807 listings across the nation’s top auction markets. Melbourne recorded 868 listings, while Sydney had 672.
Despite a slow start to the month, Melbourne’s listing numbers peaked at 876 on the 3rd week of June and continued to be higher than the corresponding 2014 weekend on last weekend of month. The city failed to maintain the 80.5 per cent auction clearance rate recorded on the first weekend of the month, with clearance hovering in the high 70s for the last three weekends. These rates, however, remained significantly higher than last year’s, when figures ranged from 64.2 per cent to 71.5 per cent.
Sydney’s clearance rate remained above 80 per cent for June 2015 compared to rates in the low 70s in June 2014. Weekly listing numbers were consistently above the corresponding weekend in 2014, with the third week of the month recording a difference of 110 listings.
