“Year-on-year activity up by 20 per cent”
Weekly Overview
Strong auction activity marked the penultimate Saturday for the financial year, with 1,840 listed auctions across the nation’s top markets. Numbers were 20 per cent higher than the same Saturday in 2014, suggesting a rush to make the June 30 deadline.
Melbourne listing numbers increased by 8 per cent from the previous Saturday and were 18 per cent above last year’s figures, while Sydney numbers remained similar to last week’s, but were up by 26 per cent from the corresponding Saturday in 2014.
Sydney’s Saturday preliminary clearance rate of 83.2 per cent recorded little change from last week’s rate, while Melbourne’s preliminary rate of 80.9 per cent declined from 81.4 per cent last weekend.
Brisbane Saturday’s listings numbers peaked at 111 on the second Saturday of the month and declined to 89 on Saturday; numbers are expected to firm for the last Saturday of the month.
