Auction Wrap Up – 3 October 2015
“Slowest spring Saturday in 3 years as grand final fever cools market”
Weekly Overview
Only 655 auction listings were recorded across the nation in the slowest spring weekend since 2012. The figure was almost half of the listings reported for the corresponding 2014 weekend and more than 2,000 below last week’s result. The preliminary national clearance rate of 66.3 per cent is expected to close lower upon revision, continuing the downward trend that started in mid August.
Sydney overtook Melbourne’s clearance rates for the first time this spring, with a preliminary 69.9 per cent against Melbourne’s 56.3 per cent. Sydney recorded 373 auctions against the sporting capital’s 51, where the grand final weekend pulled bidders away from the market.
